JOAG Awards

Each year JOAG recognizes junior officers and a senior officer for their outstanding contribution to the JOAG and the Commissioned Corps.  Awards recipients will be recognized during the annual USPHS Scientific and Training Symposium.

Junior Officer Awards

 

JOAG recognizes junior officers at the rank of LCDR/O-4

or below in the USPHS Commissioned Corps who have made significant contributions to the overall mission of the Public Health Service and JOAG.

 

The JOAG Excellence Award recognizes a non-voting, active member of the JOAG for demonstrating outstanding, dedicated effort, leadership ability, and commitment to the JOAG through active committee or workgroup participation. (Self-nominations welcome!)

 

The Junior Officer of the Year Award recognizes a junior officer who has made a significant contribution to the overall mission of the Public Health Service. (Self-nominations welcome!)

 

 

Senior Officer Award

 

JOAG also recognizes an active duty or retired senior officer at the rank of CDR/O-5 or above in the USPHS Commissioned Corps who has made a great impact on junior officers.

 

The VADM Richard H. Carmona Inspiration Award recognizes an active duty or retired Senior Officer who exemplifies outstanding leadership by example, mentorship and empowerment of junior officers, unwavering support of the Commissioned Corps and its mission, and overall inspiration and motivation to the PHS community.  (Nominations only accepted from junior officers)

 

 

Call for Nominations

 

The call for the above JOAG award nominations usually opens during the beginning of the year with a deadline around March. Call for nominations will be distributed through the JOAG Listserv as well as various other Commissioned Corps related listservs.
