Applied Public Health Team (APHT) – 2: Deployment to Minot, North Dakota to Provide Assistance for Souris River Flooding
At the request of the City of Minot Department of Health, a 16-member unit of the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) Applied Public Health Team (APHT) – 2, was deployed by the Office of Force Readiness and Deployment (OFRD) to Minot, North Dakota to provide environmental health services for approximately 4,000 to 6,000 residential homes affected by the Souris River Flooding.

In 2005, more than 2,400 officers in the U.S. Public Health Service were deployed to the Gulf Region before, during, and after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. They set up and staffed field hospitals and emergency medical clinics, treated sick and injured evacuees, conducted disease surveillance, and worked closely with local and State health authorities to plan for long-term public health needs.
